Welcome to the Website!
As your Travis County Commissioner for Precinct Three, I and my staff work as your advocates on the myriad issues that face the residents of this part of the county. Precinct 3 covers an area that is almost 50% of Travis County and has a population of nearly 300,000; so you can imagine the scope of the work that has to be done.
Precinct Three is a microcosm of Travis County. We confront all of the same issues in our precinct that the rest of the county experiences: transportation, water quality and availability, development, environment, health care, education, law enforcement and emergency services. As much as the county endeavors to make our quality of life better, the reality is that counties in Texas do not have the authority to take meaningful steps to insure that this always happens. That is why I am working with state legislators to grant counties more land-use authority, so that commissioners' courts will have the tools needed to protect our quality of life and ensure that we can continue to grow in responsible ways.
I hope that this web site will be useful to you. Here, you will find information on your Travis County government, local and regional issues, your own community, and about my staff and me. We all want to assist you in any way that we can.
Take a look around the site and let me know how we can make it better. We would especially like to know if we need to correct or add to any information that is published here. I look forward to working with you to help make Precinct 3 and Travis County a better place to live.
