Lori Duarte
Constituent Relations Director
A native Texan, Lori grew up in Corpus Christi and attended college at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She earned her BA in English, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college. She credits the St. Mary’s Service Learning Center for instilling in her a strong commitment to civic engagement. Since then, she has been actively involved in the communities where she has lived, having volunteered as a youth mentor, assistant horse riding instructor, and volleyball and track coach.
Lori also holds an MA in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, NM. While in grad school, Lori worked for Spencer Stuart, a privately held, global executive search firm. She conducted research about the Life Science industries, using the information she researched to create consulting tools.
Prior to moving to Austin, Lori lived in Seattle, WA, where she worked for the Washington State Hospital Association and the University of Washington. While at the Hospital Association, Lori managed the communications between the Rural Healthcare Quality Network and its members, and coordinated peer reviews and site visits to 34 rural hospitals across the state.
At the University of Washington, Lori managed the Lifelong Learning Program, bringing a variety of continuing education classes to the Women’s Center. She was soon promoted as the Women’s Center Administrator, where she worked to increase the visibility of the Women’s Center on and off campus and ensured that every guest of the center was connected to the resources they were seeking. A highlight of her time with the Women’s Center was managing its annual fundraising event, The International Women Leaders Dinner with Pilar Nores de Garcia, the First Lady of Peru, as the keynote speaker.
Since her move to Austin in 2009, Lori has volunteered with the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, Komen Austin, and the Mexic-Arte Museum. In October 2009, Lori coordinated over 150 volunteers for the museum’s Viva la Vida Fest, celebrating Dia de los Muertos.
Lori is happy to be back in Texas near her family and working for Commissioner Huber. She is looking forward to getting to know the constituents of Precinct 3 and assisting them in anyway she can.
